On August 1st, 2023 the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service will publish a revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Employers are permitted to use the current form (edition 10/21/2019) through October 31st, 2023. Starting November 1st, employers must use the new form (edition 8/1/2023). Read more.
A new alternative procedure for employers to examine new hire documents has also been authorized. To do so, employers must be enrolled in E-Verify, examine and retain copies of all documents, conduct a live video interaction with the employee, and conduct an E-Verify case if the employee is a new hire.
